Still life serves as the foundation for the initial models we create using discovered items and traditional modeling techniques. Still lifes provide a unique way to understand objects and their interactions through the sensual qualities ascribed to them. In still life, objects engage in a dialogue with one another, but the usefulness of the objects is secondary to their aesthetic value. This allows for a unique display of objects that draws the viewer's attention to their aesthetic qualities rather than their practical uses. A primary concern for the seminar will be the distinction between objects, and qualities, both real and sensual. I look at those edge conditions, and attempt to understand differences in their found objects and the aesthetic tension developed when combined. Pairing this investigation into edges, with still lifes, will help illuminate qualities of the initial objects while subsequently also illuminating qualities of their new objects. These models will attempt to address and generate new architectural mediums. What types of new mediums are developed by the interaction between the analog and the digital? These models will provide an initial formal and textural precedent, as we use photogrammetry to scan the objects. These pallets of models and textures will give us an asset library to work with, and further abstract with the use of machine learning. I used digital techniques to augment and further estrange my scanned objects. Style transfer, and diffusion models are used to generate skins and alternative readings of the objects. 【FOUNG OBJECTS】 The parts that compose a building go through a rigorous process over time of economic efficiency. Whether in production, assembly and/or maintenance, the variety of parts have many requirements that change and evolve as technology and taste changes. As the twentieth century eclipsed into the twenty-first, the parts that make up buildings have become ever more homogenized and standardized to be made as quickly, efficiently and cheaply as possible. The ‘kit-of-parts’ that architecture utilizes has the ability, through advancements in tools, to expand and change, prioritizing different aspects of what it means to be a part of a building. This process looks to find alternative parts that could do a variety of things for a building. The quality of these objects are going to be of primary concern: Filter. I produced a taxonomy of 8 found objects using photogrammetry. Aesthetics often facilitate these connections, forming the edge between two objects. Objects possess a unique autonomy, as their true nature can never be fully known. Breaking objects into smaller pieces only reveals more underlying components. Conversely, objects are sometimes discussed only in relation to their effects on the world, which can oversimplify their existence. Both undermining and overmining approaches fail to capture the essence of objects. Our sensual experience of an object represents just a fraction of its reality. The complexity of this issue increases when considering hybrids. When two objects merge to form a new whole, an aesthetic tension arises, creating a form of unity. This unity cannot be achieved by examining only the effects and parts of the objects. Instead, we explore the "je ne sais quoi" realm of arts and humanities to combine objects. To best discuss hybrids, we must focus on their metaphorical hybridity.
